Where's My Saab?
Where's My Saab?

This is a monthly Gryphon feature where readers are invited to identify the geographical location of Saab in the photograph. Be the first to correctly name where the pic was taken and you will be mentioned in the next issue of the newsletter as well as here on the web site. A high-resolution colour version of the photo will be posted here on the 3th Wednesday of every month, when the Gryphon is published. Send your guess to Fred Hopper at photos [at] saabclub [dot] ca.
We are looking for readers to contribute photos; if it's selected you will get a mention of thanks in the following issue. Photos must include any model of Saab, and they must be taken by yourself. Ideally they should be of your car, however given that we often have to reluctantly leave our Saabs behind on travel, photos of other people's Saabs are also acceptable. Send photos to the same address as above. Note: When submitting your photos, be aware that they will appear in both the print version of the newsletter as well as on the club web site - which makes them visible to (and downloadable by) anyone on the Internet.
You can receive an eMail alert whenever this page is updated with a new "Where's My Saab" photo. Click here to have www.changedetection.com monitor this page and send you a note when it changes.

February 2012: Where was this photo taken?
Submitted by Gizago on 15. February 2012 - 22:25January 2012: Where was this photo taken?
Submitted by Gizago on 19. January 2012 - 6:43Congratulations to Timothy Wong who correctly identified the location of the photo of the classic Saab 93 as being at the 2011 Saab Owners' Convention in Parsippany, New Jersey. Honorable mention goes to Chris Loomis who hinted at recognizing the location as being last year's convention and who spotted the Aztec rims on the next car as matching the ones from his 1980 900 Turbo.
April 2011: Orillia, Ontario
Submitted by Gizago on 19. January 2012 - 6:40Congratulations to Andrew Fyfe who correctly identified the location of Neil Palmer's 9-5 which was in front of the Ossawippi Restaurant's Dining Cars in Orelia's waterfront. He also pointed out that it's located at the foot of Mississaga Street, which is not a misspelling. I want to thank Neil for being a longtime contributor to this (now occasional) feature.
March 2011: George Street, Edinburgh
Submitted by saabclub on 16. March 2011 - 6:43Congratulations to Neil Palmer who not only correctly named the city (which is all I was looking for) but also the correct street of last month's photo, which was George Street in Edinburgh. Neil also identified the stately building in the background with Roman columns as the Assembly Halls but this part was incorrect, the building was actually The Dome, one block away. I want to thank Rajiv Dighe for providing the great photo.

Submitted by Gizago on 13. February 2010 - 10:16June 2009: Paris, France
Submitted by Gizago on 3. July 2009 - 17:19June’s photo was provided by Wendy Chapman who took the photo of the 9-3 (or was it a second gen 900?) convertible in Paris, France. The location was correctly spotted first by Martin Paquet and then also by Marek Dziedzic. I also received two excellent but not quite correct guesses – from Danny McGinty and Art Proulx.
